Interesting piece of trivia about Nick Murphy: He’s colorblind. More specifically, he suffers from Deutan color blindness (also known as deuteranomaly). It’s a type of red-green color blindness that causes red, yellow, green, and brown to appear similar, especially in low light. It’s also difficult to tell the difference between blues and purples, or pinks and grays. You can learn more about Deutan and other types of colorblindness here.
So in order to help him learn more about color and how it applies to cinema, Nick began making these color study videos, Color Schematics.
His goal is to analyze how other creators use color in the hopes that it will help him understand color better.
